Have you already watched Ancient Apocalypse?
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Netflix launched this documentary series last week (full disclosure: this is not a paid placement! ☺), and although I am not at all a binge-watching type (quite the opposite, in fact), I could not resist watching the whole series back-to-back in one single go!
Here is one reason that changed my usual pastime habits instantly: Ancient Apocalypse portrays captivating storytelling that points convincingly at the version of human civilization history that is relatively unorthodox. It speaks of the timeline that backdates our roots much further into the past than the current science is normally willing to accept. It is also a version of the events that is very similar to the one Damanhur’s philosophy subscribes to.
Now, why is this actually important, you might ask? How does it help us to know the origins of our ancestors and what human history really looked like? Does it not seem far more significant to realize where we are and what we choose to create as our future? Let’s sum this up into three basic questions:
Where do I come from? Who am I? What am I doing here?
…these normally happen to be the questions that connect inside us all three time dimensions—past, present, and future. They are also mutually interdependent and, let’s be honest, pretty much define the meaning and the course of our lives.
One can choose to research these questions or simply accept the common socially-conformist answers without ever considering them. Still, given the potentially profound effect that finding the answers may have on one’s life, I believe it is indispensable to dedicate a bit of amount of time to the cause.
Damanhur’s philosophy has a very specific view on Human history; much of it overlaps with what Graham Hancock is hinting at in the series. Let’s review the key elements.
1. Human civilization dates back much further in history
In school, we learn that ancient history started around 4.000 BCE (6.000 years ago), with the first civilizations rising in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. Before that, humans have a long history of more primitive lifestyles (such as hunter-gatherers living in smaller tribes) but lacking elements that make up a civilization (aka monumental architecture, unique art styles, and shared communication strategies).
Recent years, however, saw the unearthing of an increasing number of artifacts all over the planet that keep pushing back that point zero countdown, hinting at the existence of advanced civilizations on this planet much earlier. For example, the most amazing discovery of the Göbekli Tepe site in Turkey dating back to 9.500 BCE (11.500 years ago!). We learned of a story of a civilization capable of building constructions that were evidently impossible for hunters and gatherers. But is it indeed possible civilizations rose even earlier than that?
2. Atlantis existed?
Hancock flirts with this idea in the series. On the other hand, we in Damanhur believe it. From Plato’s document first mentioning the ancient site of Atlantis, to all the myths and books that were written and all the movies that explore this fascinating civilization that was supposedly wiped out from the face of the Earth around 12.000 years ago.
Whichever version of the truth one chooses to subscribe to, Atlantis has certainly been, for the longest time, an important source of creativity and imagination influencing our life.
What could we learn from ancient Atlantis, and why is she important to us today?
How would positive proof of its existence change our lives?
3. We might not be the peak of human civilization (no, not even in technology)
While scrolling on your phone and having tons of information and content at your fingertips, it is easy to assume that we are at the peak of human evolution. Some of the archeological findings, though, cannot be explained in terms of modern technological advances, let alone the tools available back then. For instance, how did those pyramids with perfectly cut stone blocks go high up into the sky? Dragging those immense megalithic stones through the desert from the nearest theoretical place of origin, weighing dozens of tons, seems simply impossible.
Could we build those today with the technology we have at hand, and at what cost? Hypotheses of technology based on sound and vibration were made – something still to be discovered. Could it be that civilizations with access to that refined technology were wiped out from the face of the earth?
In Damanhur, we believe that we as humans need to take care in keeping the level of our awareness aligned with the pace of technological evolution. Learning from the past can keep us safe from making the same mistakes all over again. Perhaps wandering with curiosity across the depths of your soul at least as intensely as scrolling through content on your mobile could be a good start to address that potential risk.
I am thrilled to discover what these new revelations into human history may unfold. After years of exploring Damanhurian philosophy based on ancient esoteric knowledge and the immense inspiration of Falco, it is fascinating to see how researchers from all over the world are bringing to the table the same hypotheses, asking the same key questions.
And what about you? Do you have doubts about the way history is taught in our society? Are you a researcher of alternative history hypotheses, and what do you make of them? I would love to hear your comments.
