Rafael can be imagined as a being who continuously filters and spreads pure, coherent energy from the heart of the Universe into the world. From this energy, harmony and beauty can arise like a fragrant flower, if we listen to our heart and connect to higher frequencies of consciousness.

Rafael is a bridge between multidimensional levels of pure energy and the dimension where we live. When we come into contact with this energy – which we can also call prana, divine matrix, the Real, Nous, and many other names – we heal our physical and spiritual ills because we are a part of the flow of life and consciousness. Rafael represents this bridge and watches over it so that the passageway is always open.

In this era when the call for Reawakening is coming in many ways, including through a pandemic, it is important to remind ourselves that Rafael is present and already working toward his mission, which is to spread healing energy in the world. We simply need to realize this. Being connected to the pure energy of the Universe means being on the path of purity, and expressing pure thoughts and actions not only toward our life, but also towards politics, human rights, and the way of living we would like to see on the Earth.

Archangel Rafael is one of those figures who appears in different mythologies. He is a hero whom today we would call multi-ethnic, a true citizen of the world. Rafael is present in the Bible, the most widespread text in the world, and volumes have been written about him, including experts of contemporary angels who have brought his figure back into vogue and sometimes “updated” his functions. The etymology of his name in ancient Hebrew means “it is God who heals,” or “God, please heal.”

For Christians, Rafael is part of the religion, while for Jews and Protestant Christians, his presence is more connected with culture, since the angels who are mentioned in the Torah do not have a name. Like other angels, Rafael is mentioned in books that are considered apocryphal. In Islam, Rafael is honored as one of the great archangels, responsible for signaling the coming of Judgment Day by playing his trumpet.

In the Gospel, Rafael becomes St. Raphael and is even more rooted in the popular imagination. Curiously, the first document that mentions this saint, dating back to the 11th century, was written in the city of Ivrea, a few kilometers from the place where Damanhur was founded, nine centuries later.

Rafael is one of the archangels who is constantly allowed to be in the presence of God. In the context of monotheistic religions, Rafael is one of the non-divine beings who is closest to the Creator, and this gives him beneficial capacities with regards to humanity. Rafael cares for health and generally for those who suffer, and also for love relationships. He is very close to the daily sufferings and hopes of human beings, as if he wanted to balance the elitist condition that he experiences in relation to the One.

Invoking his name means receiving protection, serenity, and joy in emotional life, and above all knowing how to face all physical and moral suffering. In the world, many people still invoke him to receive dreams and inspiration about how to heal the suffering of the body and soothe that of the soul.

On the walls of the Temples of Humankind, and on the September page of the Damanhurian calendar, Rafael is represented while kneeling; his face is serene, and he is holding a lily in his left hand, scattering its petals in the wind. In this way, he spreads his gifts to all of humanity.

Rafael continues to rain pure energy on us in order to help us. Perhaps we can help him with this by perceiving, contacting, and using this force, so that his source is always free and continues to bless us with his gifts. In these months of epidemics, second thoughts, and important elections, the world – that is, each one of us – truly needs it.
