Autumn in the woods is full of colors, lights, chestnuts, and also celebrations. For the second year in a row, around mid-October in the Sacred Woods Temple we celebrated the chestnut harvest. This time of year is particularly important for the Sacred Woods as it offer us an abundance of nuts, and also because it coincides with the beginning of a new phase in development and care for the Woods.
The rain of recent days didn’t stop us! We weren’t able to use the open spaces, but we held a party anyway, moving it indoors. The buffet was very rich and appreciated by all. It consisted of roasted chestnuts, polenta with meat or vegetable sauce, chestnut bread and mulled wine. Most all the foods were produced within the community. There was so much joy and pleasure in being together, along with music and dancing!
